When I began drawing I began to enjoy getting lost in the details, focusing on the small features and shapes required to portray the portrait in mind. That intrigue of detail continued with me as I became immersed in my studies of the natural world. My time spent observing the infinite number of gifts from this earth and beyond has completely enriched my perspective. It is hard to miss the vibrant colors to be found in a forest, a lichen covered branch, or the cheek of the steelhead, and of course the endless shades of the sun’s dance with the horizon. With each piece I hope to share the beautiful details that Mother Nature provides, to bring attention to the striking textures, shapes, colors and scenes that surround us. Through my work I hope to communicate the importance of the natural world, foster appreciation for her beauty, and inspire action to help protect ecosystems we are so fortunate to be a part of.
